We also travelled up to Thailand.
The trip was a big culture shock for me, it was my first time in South-East Asia,
& there were many things that I was never aware of...
The worst thing; the poor state of the animals
there are many street animals, but even 'pets' tended to be in a terribly poor state of health,
it broke my heart to see that.
The best thing; culture, there are many fantastic things about SE Asia,
I especially loved the markets & interesting little stalls scattered about,
you can find cool vendors anywhere, from a quiet residential street to a busy city.
Best story; I was standing up on a 'footpath' checking the map on my phone,
when from no-where an old Asian guy rides up onto the path on his motorbike (almost taking me out),
& angrily says 'open your eyes!'. Wow. In SE Asia motorbikes are EVERYWHERE, & they go everywhere,
I learned that well after that day, all the 'footpaths' have little ramp bits joining to the road for them...
What I learned; everyone should be able to sell stuff how they like, where the like (within reason),
things are much more interesting that way, & everyone has an opportunity to be creative & earn little money.
Keep things clean & green, or bad smells happen, many bad smells...
Care for you animals properly, if you're not sure use the damn internet!
As great as the trip was, I've had it up to my ass with travel,
I want to nest-it-up & settle down here in Aus
